Switzerland Visa Requirements for Nigeria:

Types of Switzerland Visa that can be given by the Switzerland Embassy

Type A: Switzerland Transit Visa

This visa is valid for moving within the confines of an airport in Switzerland, awaiting your next flight to another Schengen state or country outside of the European Union.

Type C: Switzerland Tourist visa

This visa is valid for up to 90 days of travel within a space of 180 days, for sightseeing across the 22 Schengen countries.

Switzerland Business visa

This visa is valid for up to 90 days of travel and allowing the tourist to conduct business within Switzerland.

Prior to submitting your application with the Switzerland Embassy, please book an appointment by sending an e-mail to them beforehand. Procedure for the issuance of the visa takes 15 days. Fake or forged travel documents will be seized and sent to the MFA for further action.

Switzerland Long-term visa

This visa is valid for a period longer than a tourist visa, as it can last three months upwards, and includes long-term study, marriage to a Swiss national, and a family reunion.

Schengen/Switzerland Visa Requirement for Nigerian Citizens

Switzerland Visa Application For Tourist

  1. Passport valid at least three months after leaving Switzerland, six months before your travel date to country. Also, submit all previous passports, either valid or cancelled.
  2.   A completed Schengen visa application form: printed and signed by you.
  3. Two recent full-face photographs for each applicant (must not have been taken more than 3 months prior to the application): white background, head coverings are not permitted except for religious reasons;
  4. One photocopy of your data page.
  5. Copy of all valid Schengen, UK, US and Canadian Visas
  6. For non-Nigerian nationals residing in Nigeria: a copy of the Nigerian residence permit;
  7.   Round-trip flight reservation details – to ensure that you will return to Nigeria and not overstay your visa dates
  8.   Proof of accommodation for your entire duration in Switzerland
  9.   Travel insurance – this should cover any medical emergencies and have a minimum cover of 30,000 Euros
  10.   Bank statements for the last three months
  11. For self-employed: Introduction letter, business incorporation certificate and memorandum, original
    (to be returned) and photocopies. Company bank statement and personal bank statement three months back stamped and signed by the bank;
  12. For employees: introduction letter from the employer with an indication of the start date of employment, the annual salary, the granted leave period and resumption date. Salary slips three months back.

  13. The last step is appointment scheduling. You must schedule an appointment with the embassy for biometric and submission of your Switzerland visa application.

Switzerland Visa Application For Business

  1. Passport valid at least three months after leaving Switzerland, six months before your travel date to country. Also, submit all previous passports, either valid or cancelled.
  2.   A completed Schengen visa application form: You need to print and sign the form.
  3. Two recent full-face photographs for each applicant (not more than 3 months prior to the application): white background, head coverings not permitted except for religious reasons;
  4. A cover letter – explaining the nature of your visit to Switzerland
  5. An original letter of invitation from Switzerland. Must contain: name, first name, date of birth (exactly same as in the passport) for every invited person. Purpose and duration of the visit (please give the exact dates of stay). Please indicate if the stay and cost are guaranteed. The invitation, duly signed, must be sent by e-mail to abu.visa@eda.admin.ch prior to the appointment date given to the applicant;
  6. Proof of financial means – financial proof of your company’s travel expenses, including flight and hotel prices
  7. For self-employed: Introduction letter, business incorporation certificate and memorandum, original
    (to be returned) and photocopies. Company bank statement and personal bank statement three months back stamped and signed by the bank;
  8. For employees: introduction letter from the employer with an indication of the start date of employment, the annual salary, the granted leave period and resumption date. Salary slips three months back.

  9. Diplomatic and official: Note Verbale from MFA;
  10. Finally, you need to schedule an appointment with the embassy for biometric and submission.

MINORS & COUPLE

  1. Minors travelling alone or with one parent: a copy of the birth certificate, letter of consent from both parents, copy of both parents’ passports and both parents must sign the visa application form.
  2. A couple travelling together: Original (to be returned) and photocopies of a marriage certificate.

BOOK APPOINTMENT WITH SWITZERLAND EMBASSY

Once you are ready with all the requirement and supporting documents, next is appointment booking with the Switzerland embassy.

You need to send an email to the Switzerland embassy requesting for an appointment.

When sending an email for an appointment, you need to provide the following details:

  • Nature of travel
  • Visa Type:
  • Name of event
  • Family name
  • Given name
  • Telephone number
  • Passport number
  • E-Mail Address
  • Planned arrival date in Switzerland

Their official email is abuja.visa@eda.admin.ch. Ensure to make the subject of the email “APPOINTMENT – SWITZERLAND“.

An appointment is always reserved based on your travel date and the availability at Switzerland Embassy. Should you not be able to come on the reserved date and time, ensure you send an e-mail to the following address: abuja.visa@eda.admin.ch to arrange for a more suitable appointment. Changes or Cancellation of appointment by telephone not accepted.

All applicants must appear at the Embassy for fingerprinting. They must arrive at the Embassy 10 minutes prior to the appointment time.

Failing to bring all required documents and information will result in having to book a new appointment.

Processing Time for Switzerland Visa Application In Nigeria

A Switzerland tourist visa, visit or business visa in Nigeria could take up to 2 weeks. If further checks are required, processing time could take up to 2 months before your application is processed.

Switzerland/Schengen visa fee?

Currently, the price of a Schengen visa is €60 (₦24,820). Visa fees paid upfront is nonrefundable.
