FINLAND VISA APPLICATION AND REQUIREMENTS – HOW TO APPLY

We will discuss Finland visa application and the requirements then show you how to apply for the visa where you reside. The process is like France visa application, where you need to fill in your application online and print it out for physical submission.

Finland is part of the 26 Schengen countries therefore it requires similar requirements as others.

Finland visa application requires online application and paper submission. Firstly, we will explain the online process and show you how to drop the hard copies at the visa centre.

FINLAND VISA APPLICATION ONLINE PROCESS

To begin the Finland visa application online, you must follow the process below:

Visit the Finland visa application portal here.

Create a new account: You will need to create an account on the portal. This gives you access to your online application any time. After the creation, a confirmation link will be sent to your email. You must click on the link in the email to activate your account.

If you reside in a country other than the country of your current nationality, it is important that you select “yes”, when filling the form, and enter your residence permit details or equivalent information.

Please note:

• Your application form should be filled in using the Latin alphabet.
• You need to complete the Finland application form in English.
• Fields marked with an asterisk (*) are compulsory.
• Print out the Finland application form in English.
• Ensure every detail is correct before you click on the finalise application button. You cannot modify the application after you have clicked the “Finalise Application” button, you must create a new application.

Tips on Occupation:
Pupils of all ages should select “Student, Trainee” and provide the school’s details.

See example below on how to choose your occupation when filling in your Finland visa application:

Child: choose No occupation
Pupil/student: Student, Trainee
Housewife: No occupation
Unemployed: No occupation
Executive: Company executive
Retired: Pensioner

Please note that family members of EU, EEA or CH citizens or of UK nationals who are Withdrawal Agreement beneficiaries under the Directive 2004/38/EC shall not fill in this field.

Remember, once you have finalised your visa application on the website, you can no longer make changes to it. If you wish to modify your visa application after that, you must create a new application. The printout of the application form will be only in English.

PHYSICAL SUBMISSION OF FINLAND VISA APPLICATION

After you have finalised your Finland visa application online, print and sign the application and deliver it, along with the required supporting documents for Finland visa application, to the Visa Application Centre for submission within 90 days. You can only edit the visa application form within 90 days before it is finalised in the online application service. You will need your login details to retrieve your visa application form before it is completed and printed out.

Book Appointment: You must book your appointment with the VFS Global. To book your Finland visa appointment, click here and you will be required to enter your details and pick a date.

The processing time does not start counting when you have submitted your application online. It begins only after you have submitted the printed and signed application with all supporting documents to the Visa Application Centre and visa fee paid. Currently, it is not possible to submit an application by email, mail or fax.

What You Need To Know After The Physical Submission

Like we pointed out earlier, once you have finalised your visa application form, please print it out, sign it and submit it to the Visa Application Centre of Finland within 90 days. The moment the application is submitted to the Visa Application Centre, your application data will be erased. If you fail to complete your Finland application online, the data will also be erased in 90 days. Your email account details will be deleted 30 days after the removal of your last application, then you may need to create a new login details to start a new application from scratch.

We recommend using the online application form with Chrome or Firefox.

FINLAND VISA APPLICATION INSTRUCTION

There is usually no interview for Finland visa. However, the Finnish mission reserves the right to request additional information or documentation and, if considered necessary, to interview the applicant.

The embassy will definitely return original documents after the processing of the visa application. Documents will be returned together with the visa decision. Any counterfeit or forged document shall be withheld by the Embassy for further investigation.
