Macedonia Visa Requirements For Nigerian Citizens – How To Apply

The Republic of North Macedonia is a country in the Balkan Peninsula in Southeast Europe. It gained its independence in 1991 as one of the successor states of Yugoslavia.
Types of entry visas:
- Airport Transit Visa (‘А’ visa),
- Short-Stay and Transit Visa (‘C’ visa)

Documents Required For Macedonia Visa (‘C’ Visa)
Document needed for a short-stay visa, up to 90 days (‘C’ Visa), i.e. transit visa of up to 5 days:
- Travel document. A recognized passport valid at least 3 months beyond the period of intended stay.

- Invitation Letter. A notarized warranty letter is essential when invited. The invitation letter must come from a Macedonian citizen/legal person.
- Introduction Letter. Letter from employer or sponsoring company, on company letterhead, introducing the applicant, indicating the applicant’s employment status/position held in the company, and clearly stating the purpose of visit to Macedonia. The business letter must also indicate who will be financially responsible for the applicant and must provide detailed contact information in Macedonia.
- Financial evidence. You must show proof of possession of sufficient resources for the duration of the stay in the form of a credit card/bank statement.
- Photo. Photography (size 3.5×4.5 cm) in color with a white background where the face of the applicant is clearly visible
- Visa Fee. You need to show proof of paid fees for processing the visa application.
- Visa Application. You must neatly and legibly fill out the visa application.

Long-Stay Visa for the Republic of North Macedonia
In order to receive a long-stay visa, the applicant should submit the documents corresponding to the visa type upon receiving a decision on granting temporary residence by the Ministry of Interior.
Temporary residence is granted to a foreigner who intends to stay in the Republic of Macedonia for the following reasons:
- Work
- Study
- Participation in international student exchange programmes
- Specialisation, vocational training and practical training
- Volunteering
- Scientific-research activities
- Medical treatment
- Accommodation in nursing homes
- Family reunion
- Humanitarian reasons
Temporary residence is also granted to:
- A foreigner who is a close family member of a citizen of the Republic of Macedonia;
- A foreigner who is from the Republic of Macedonia by origin;
- A child of a foreigner born in the Republic of Macedonia or
- A foreign resident of an EU or OECD Member State who has acquired the right to own an apartment, apartment building, or house on the territory of the Republic of Macedonia under the conditions laid down in the law in the amount of at least 40,000 euros.
- A foreigner who is granted a temporary stay for a specific purpose may stay in the Republic of Macedonia only for the purpose for which he/she has been granted temporary residence
Letter of guarantee
Letters of guarantee are issued by citizens of the Republic of Macedonia or foreigners with granted residence in the Republic of North Macedonia.
An invitation letter by a legal entity is issued by a domestic and foreign legal entity registered in the Republic of North Macedonia inviting the foreigner to a business visit; or by a state administrative body.
The letter of guarantee and the invitation letter by a legal entity of a state administrative body act as proof of means of subsistence i.e. secured accommodation if they contain a statement where the guarantor, i.e. the legal person assumes the responsibility to provide accommodation and to cover all the expenses for the stay of the foreigner in the Republic of North Macedonia and his/her departure from the territory of the Republic of North Macedonia.
The letter of guarantee and the invitation letter by a legal entity must be certified by a notary public; this, however, does not apply for the invitation letter issued by a state administrative body.
In conclusion, you can file an appeal if your visa application is refused.

The Republic of North Macedonia does not have an embassy in Nigeria. You need to visit the Embassy of the Republic of North Macedonia in Cairo, Egypt. So, it is advisable to apply for a Schengen visa which gives you entry into the entry.
In conclusion, valid travel insurance that covers the expenses which may arise during the applicant’s stay in Macedonia or in connection with repatriation for medical reasons, urgent medical attention, and/or emergency hospital treatment is compulsory. You must submit a visa application to the competent (resident or non-resident) diplomatic-consular representation of the Republic of North Macedonia no longer than six months and at least 15 days before the start of the intended trip. The visa application is submitted in person.
